TextMyGov celebrates the 55th Annual Professional Municipal Clerks Week from May 5 to May 11, 2024. We seize this moment to recognize the invaluable contributions of municipal clerks to our local governments and communities.

The International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) established the Professional Municipal Clerks Week in 1969, a significant milestone in recognizing this profession's importance. It garnered support from all IIMC members from the United States, Canada, and 15 additional countries. President Ronald Reagan's endorsement in 1984 and President Bill Clinton's in 1994 and 1996 further solidified municipal clerks' enduring significance and legacy throughout history. 

As technology progresses, municipal clerks have proven to be pivotal public service figures, adept at addressing the evolving technological demands of local governments. The recent shift to remote work due to COVID-19 has further highlighted their adaptability and resilience. Municipal clerks, through their role in drafting meeting minutes and agendas, solving technical issues, providing training, managing county records, and ensuring council members' meeting participation, directly impact our communities' functioning. They also facilitate online access for the public to view the proceedings later, demonstrating their commitment to inclusivity, transparency, and unwavering dedication to public service.
