Integrated Public Alert & Warning System (IPAWS)

The Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) is FEMA’s national system that serves as a tool used by Federal, State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial public safety agencies. It can be used to notify the public of vital emergency, safety, and disaster information. Alerts can be sent out to specific geographic areas. This type of notification tool will actively notify those who enter the designated area until the alert expires.

The IPAWS texting code that TextMyGov utilizes is called Local Area Emergency (LAE). Local authorities in the United States issue this secure advisory code through the Emergency Alert System (EAS).

The purpose of the advisory is to notify and instruct the public in case of a significant threat to public safety and/or property alone or the escalation of such serious events.

Some examples include electric or natural gas service issues, water disruptions, road closures due to excessive snowfall, and potential terrorist threats. AMBER Alerts are omitted.

Residents Are Safe

Choose how often your citizens get notified by weather severity type.

TextMyGov's IPAWS integration helps government agencies to ensure timely and accurate emergency information reaches the public during disasters and other critical situations across via text message.

Aside from providing emergency alerts through our IPAWS integration, TextMyGov also provides additional avenues of communication, like sending general notifications and assisting citizens in accessing important information or reporting issues.

With a user-friendly interface, TextMyGov allows users to track and manage inbound and outbound text messages, enhancing communication between government agencies and citizens.

Each agency is assigned a dedicated Client Relations Specialist to aid in the training, setup, and integration of our easy-to-use communication tool. They will demonstrate how TextMyGov can streamline communication, minimize phone calls, and relay significant information to citizens. The designated agency representative is required to obtain the IPAWS certification.

"The Citizens Appreciated The Constant Communication"

"TextMyGov has been instrumental in providing emergency communications and support to the citizens. While staff were being pulled away to deal with disaster response, it was so convenient to send a quick text to citizens regarding things like water boil advisory, or where displaced residents could find shelter. The citizens appreciated the constant communication as well. Since the storm, a large portion of our residents have opted in, and I have noticed the call volume drastically decreasing."
